Bishop Donald Hying

Keynote Speaker: Bishop Donald Hying — was born in West Allis, Wisconsin. He received his bachelor’s degree from Marquette University and his master’s degree from St. Francis Seminary. In 1989, Bishop Hying was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. He was a parochial vicar for St. Anthony Parish, Menomonee Falls, then a Team Member for La Sagrada Familia Parroquia in the Dominican Republic in 1994. He returned to the United States in 1998 and served as the parochial administrator of St. Peter Parish, the parochial vicar of St. Anthony Parish, Milwaukee, the pastor of Our Lady of Good Hope Parish, Milwaukee, and the parochial administrator of St. Augustine Parish, Milwaukee. He served as the Dean of Formation at Saint Francis de Sales Seminary from 2005 to 2007, and was appointed the rector of St. Francis de Sales Seminary serving in that capacity from 2007 until 2011. In 2011, Fr. Donald Hying was appointed the Titular Bishop of Regiae and Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. In 2014, he was appointed as the Fourth Bishop of Gary (Indiana). In 2019, Most Reverend Donald Hying was appointed the Fifth Bishop of Madison (Wisconsin). Bishop Hying serves as the Episcopal Liaison for the National Association of Catholic Chaplains, as Episcopal Advisor to the U.S. Society of St. Vincent de Paul, he is a member of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Subcommittee to Aid the Church in Central and Eastern Europe and the Committee on the Protection of Children and Young People and the Committee on Catholic Education.
